I d like to explain my accident details here: I tripped and fell against the glass window. Then that very glass cut my right arm's artery and nerves. My main arm artery was cut and undoubtedly the blood just splashed like fountain. At that point, I didn't think I'd live anymore as I shivered and felt all numb. Luckily my housemates called the ambulance on time and they sent me to one of the biggest hospitals in Paris instantly.
I still remembered Akiko, Yang, Arleen and Huda's voice asking me to stay awake, with Alex trying to tighten the belt around my arm... It was a tragic night but i'm thankful for all of them who saved my life.
The hospital operated my artery successfully but that was not it..... I was told that my Ulnar and Median nerves were completely destroyed and they needed to transplant the nerve on my calf to the arm, in order for my right arm to function again.
I remembered clearly how painful it was after the artery operation. I could barely talk for a few days.
The nerve transplant took place the next day and I woke up 2 days later, feeling nothing but painful and constrained (they locked me with the cast on arm and leg). I felt like the knife was cutting my arm and calves all the time... Doctor Delpit mentioned that my right arm will not function like before and if luck is on my side, I will be able to use my right hand in 2 years..... That's a loooooong time but I won't give up. I believe in faith and miracles :) I hope I'll be a normal person again one day !!
It's 3 weeks after the very night now and i'm recovering at home. I'm glad that I'm alive and am happy to hear from all friends, family and xanga people :)
Its the 9th day I'm in this room 6311 of one of the best neurology hospital in europe. I went thru two major operations, artery repair & nerve transplant, following my accident in the kitchen last week. Spending most of time reflecting myself and thinking of random things, I choose to blog it right from the hospital bed and shout out very loud that I'm glad to be alive. My future path will definitely alter as my right arm will be paralyzed for at least two year, I won't give up and will live for so many happy souls around me. I'm thankful for everything I've got and promise to blog more when time permits.
I was so happy to meet my super couple (Alex and Teruko) :P and their nice couple (Vincent and Diana) Vincent and Diana's baby, Maeva, is super adorable :) She's 6 months old now and hope to see her walk soon :)
A freezing but yet sunny afternoon in Montemarte following by a great dinner at Bigben Bar :) The veal stew was divine !!
I decided to let go my sorrow and start socializing. Lots of great people around, why wasting time sticking to the past which cannot be changed. Here are some pics of me and my INSEAD fellows:
We are quite "politically involved", it was 18pm in Paris when President Obama's inauguration took place. More than 100 of us were watching CNN....Quite moved and do hope that "change" will come.
Thanks for my groupmate Min Hyun for the invitation. I did get to know my classmates from Korea and Brazil a lot better tonight. Learned more about their backgrounds both personally and professionally.
Was quite intrigued with a friend who did 3 volunteer projects for Katrina victims, Cambodians in Siem Reap and Mongolia's social business.... U know who you are lol....
The food was really a good mix and the dessert was as sweet :) It was a good number of people, not too big and not too small :) Thanks again JH for the hosting and also for Pedro and Roberta for the second session of the party :)
